Studio City Water Park Macau

Project Type: Waterpark

Location: Macau, China

The iconic Studio City Water Park is the largest aquatic attraction in Macau. It expanded in 2022 to feature an indoor area with over 5,000 sq ft of Life Floor under WhiteWater’s AquaPlay structure and around spray features. WTI and WhiteWater collaborated closely with Melco Development and Construction Group to create the vision for this amenity with a unique modern interpretation of Art Deco. This waterpark expansion is housed within an iconic new structure designed by Zaha Hadid Architects.

This flowing curve design is custom cut from Life Floor tiles and provides subtle visual paths leading from one attraction to the next. These custom elements perfectly tailor to Studio City’s space travel theme.

The combination of WTI's design and engineering, WhiteWater’s industry-leading features, and the comfort, safety, and durability of Life Floor’s surfacing creates a world-class indoor facility at the Studio City Water Park.

Working closely with the client, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, the WhiteWater team designed the attractions to integrate seamlessly with the building interior, even cleverly extending some outside the building envelope, matching the look and feel of the themes and architecture. Beyond pleasing to the eye, guests here can enjoy an excellent mix of high-thrill and family ride experiences, some of which are firsts in China or even in the world.

While gold and silver water slide finishes debuted in Studio City’s outdoor water park, metallic finishes customized to reflect the building’s aesthetics premiered in the indoor water park. As the Phase 2 complex was designed by the renowned firm, Zaha Hadid Architects, boasting a modern interpretation of Art Deco, the water slides protruding outside the structure must harmonize with this unique style.
