These three joyful splash pads at Forest Park Aquatic Center were designed by Hitchcock Design Group. They provide the community of Forest Park, Illinois with boundless play opportunities. A vibrant color wheel sits in the center with two other distinct splash pads on either side. At one, blues and tans create an island under the elevated play structure where children can imagine they’re on a pirate ship in the middle of the sea. The other evokes Candy Land-inspired fun with colorful paths, game spaces, and spray features placed in specific areas of the design.
All three splash pads at Forest Park Aquatic Center showcase unique opportunities to intentionally design both the flooring and spray feature layout to create a cohesive experience. The game board in particular demonstrates a prime example of how imaginatively designed surfacing can become a play feature by shaping the way that guests can interact with the space. Including activities in safety surfacing at splash pads continues to increase in popularity.
