JFK PARK SPLASH PAD
Project Type: Splash Pad
Location: Sanger, California, USA
JFK Park sits at the corner of Faller and North Avenues in Sanger, California, a city of about 27,000 in the Central Valley southeast of Fresno. Its splash pad has been a summer staple for local families since the early 2000s, steps from the park's playground, picnic areas, and basketball courts. After two decades of sun and spray, the City of Sanger applied for Life Floor's Make a SPLASH! Grant Contest to give it a fresh start, and won the 2025 Need-Based Award.
A DESIGN ROOTED IN THE PARK
Life Floor Studio created three concepts for the 1,972-square-foot pad. The city chose the most natural of the three, an earthy palette of Olive, Pistachio, Terra Cotta, Mojave and Sandstone that sits easily alongside the park's trees and lawns.
Wide bands of color sweep across the pad from end to end. Every other band has custom-cut curved edges, so the colors flow in smooth waves instead of stepping tile by tile. A trail of bubble Inlays winds through each band, and hidden among them are bears, oak leaves, and tree stumps for kids to find.
Splash pads are wet, busy, and barefoot all day; Life Floor's cushioned, slip-resistant surface gives guests of all ages and abilities better footing and a softer landing than concrete. Every tile is NSF/ANSI/CAN 50 certified and made in the USA in South Dakota.
The city wanted the space around the splash pad to feel just as connected. Our partners at Modern Recreational Technologies (MRT) coated the nearby benches and the walkway to the picnic shelter in Tuff Coat, matched to the Life Floor palette.
PLAY VALUE BETWEEN THE SPRAYS
A 1-to-10 hopscotch runs along one edge of the pad, giving kids a game to play while they wait for the next burst of water. The Inlay trails invite them to hop from bubble to bubble or count the animals as they go. It's a surface designed to play on, not just walk across. With Inlays, games and color, Life Floor activates the surface itself, so play stretches across every square foot of the splash pad instead of stopping at the spray features. That extra play value keeps kids engaged even when the water cycles off.
A MAKE A SPLASH! WINNER
“We really saw the vision that you had of trying to bring new life to it as a community staple.” — Jonathan Keller, CEO, Life Floor
Make a SPLASH! is Life Floor's annual grant contest for communities that want to transform their aquatic spaces. Sanger celebrated its new splash pad with a ribbon-cutting on June 13, 2026, attended by city leaders, council members, and families from across the community. Thank you to the City of Sanger, Modern Recreational Technologies, and Florida Bomanite for bringing it to life.
