Celebrating Parks + Recreation: 10 Parks That Shine with Life Floor

At Life Floor, we believe play is essential at every age and for every ability. This Park and Recreation Month, we’re celebrating the departments and teams who champion community well-being through joyful, safe, and inclusive play environments.

We’re proud to partner with parks and recreation professionals across the country to design safer splash pads, decks, and aquatic centers with surfacing that does more, adding beauty, enhancing accessibility, and encouraging creative play. In celebration of Park and Recreation Month, we’re highlighting ten standout projects where Life Floor brings play to life through design, creativity, and a commitment to community well-being. These spaces don’t just serve the public, they inspire it.

Cedarcrest Park

Step into a storybook at Cedarcrest Park, where winding water paths and forest critters await around every corner. Life Floor’s playful Inlays, turtles, frogs, lily pads, and fish guide little explorers through an interactive adventure underfoot, giving kids a reason to run, jump, and explore. Life Floor’s tactile texture makes it ideal for barefoot play, while the thoughtful design encourages nature-based learning and movement. This project is a shining example of how even the flooring can help tell a story and spark imagination.

John Anderson Park

Adventure awaits at John Anderson Park, where the city of Grandview turned its splash pad into a high-seas treasure hunt. Life Floor themed the surface with a vibrant triangular gradient in a palette of Bluebird, Turquoise, Seafoam, and Mojave. Scattered across the splash pad, Sea Life, Marine, and Treasure Hunt Inlays invite kids to search for shells, fish, a chest of gold, and more as they move from one spray feature to the next avoidng sharks and crabs along the way. Life Floor’s cushioned, slip-resistant surface ties the entire experience together, making this splash pad as exciting as it is safe.

North Mecklenburg Park

This North Carolina splash pad blends playful theming with purposeful geometry. Life Floor’s use of larger-than-life curved lily pads creates a dynamic and engaging layout. Paired with complementary spray features, the flooring’s clean design enhances safety while adding structure to the space, giving park visitors a versatile and visually stimulating environment to enjoy.

James F. Holland Memorial Park

James F. Holland Memorial Park incorporates the beauty of Florida’s natural landscapes into its splash pad design, connecting three play areas that offer distinct thematic experiences. The curvy beach motif is a show-stopping visual complete with palm trees, ocean creatures, and larger-than-life cattail features. A forest-inspired pathway under heavy tree cover leads away and opens up into a smaller pond space with realistic animal features placed throughout. Life Floor’s soft surface adds barefoot comfort while its slip-resistant properties make it ideal for a busy community space. This project celebrates the joy of outdoor play while delivering a functional and safe experience year-round.

Manor Field Park

Manor Field Park packs a bold personality into every detail. This playful sports-themed splash pad uses a grid of colorful squares to organize space and movement. Life Floor’s durable, cushioned surface enhances safety, while the modern geometric design gives the park a fresh, high-energy look. Whether running between water jets or hopping across colored blocks, kids engage in active, open-ended play on a surface that’s built to make every leap and splash a little safer!

Forest Park Aquatic Center

At Forest Park Aquatic Center, play takes on a whole new dimension across three uniquely themed splash pads. Together, they create a colorful, interactive hub that brings joy to the heart of the community. In the center, a vibrant color wheel anchors the experience, inviting children to spin, skip, and explore. On one side, soft blues and sandy tans form an island escape beneath an elevated play structure, perfect for imagining a high-seas pirate adventure. On the other side, a whimsical Candy Land-inspired pad bursts with cheerful paths, game board-style layouts, and carefully placed spray features that guide imaginative play.

Each zone is a thoughtful blend of spray feature layout and surface storytelling, showing how flooring itself can become an integral part of the play experience. The game board design, in particular, transforms the ground into a dynamic play element, leading kids through movement-based challenges and make-believe quests. These themed pads are more than just safe spaces to cool off; they’re memory-making destinations designed for all ages and abilities.

Wells Park Splash Pad

Wells Park is a proud reflection of Albuquerque’s vibrant identity. Featuring a custom logo representing the city’s brand, our bright palette of Turquoise, Seafoam, Goldfish, and Sunshine brings this splash pad together, combining civic pride with practical safety upgrades. This surfacing upgrade for Wells Park was the result of their city winning Life Floor’s Make a Splash! Grant Contest in 2021. It’s a place where community pride meets joyful interaction!

Fairgrounds Aquatic Center

Fairgrounds Aquatic Center stands out with a bold triangular motif that adds motion and energy to its aquatic center. The design features a clean, curvy custom-cut edge that separates the sand and water zones of their zero-depth entry. Sea creature Inlays were included to augment the theming. Fish and seahorses can be found in the water, while crabs and starfish can be found on the sand. The surface offers a safe, slip-resistant base that complements the dynamic visuals, creating a space that’s both practical and playful.

Westfield Memorial Pool Complex

Dive into an underwater experience at Westfield Memorial Pool Complex. In their second Life Floor installation, Westfield integrates curves,Inlays, and color to create a design that features a vibrant, unique octopus motif with tentacles that serve as pathways for kids to follow through spray features and into the zero-depth leisure pool. The result is a cohesive and visually appealing environment that enhances the user experience while reinforcing the complex’s focus on family-friendly design.

Pleasant Glade

Pleasant Glade shows Life Floor’s versatility beyond splash pads. The project included pool decking and locker room flooring, areas often overlooked in terms of safety and comfort. Using rectangular patterns, the design creates clean lines and a professional finish. Life Floor’s slip resistance and comfort under bare feet make it ideal for wet transition zones, reducing hazards and making the entire facility more accessible and inviting.
