Splashing into Summer: Life Floor's Favorite Oceanian Projects

While summer warms the shores and community centres across Oceania, there's no better time to celebrate the dynamic aquatic spaces that bring families, friends, and visitors together. From coastal splash pads to interior community clubs and state-of-the-art health facilities, Life Floor is proud to be part of spaces that create safer, more playful, and beautifully designed environments.

Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa – Denarau Island, Fiji Islands

Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa project deserves a summer spotlight for its tropical splash pad installation. Located on Denarau Island, this design respectfully incorporates cultural motifs and vibrant hues that enhance the resort's serene, beachfront ambience. Life Floor surfaces blend artistry with comfort to create an inviting space where guests can cool off and play in style under the Pacific sun.

Palm Beach Aquatic Centre – Queensland, Australia

The Palm Beach Aquatic Centre is another site where Life Floor and Liquid Blu Architecture has helped elevate public play spaces. Designed with subtropical influences and paired with low sensory Waterplay features, the splash pad encourages free movement and joyful interaction. Families can let little ones explore safely in an area that reflects the relaxed character of Palm Beach's coastal community.

Club Alamora – Tarneit, Victoria, Australia

Community comes first at Club Alamora, where Life Floor's colourful wave pattern sets the stage for water play at this lively residents' club. Designed as part of a broader vision for social connection and active living, the splash pad's fluid curves and engaging palette complement pools, gym spaces, and communal amenities to create a summer-friendly environment that fosters connection and shared experiences.

Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre – Queensland, Australia

At the heart of Queensland's Fraser Coast, the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre's refreshed lagoon pool and new splash pad are summer essentials for locals and visitors alike. Featuring a shaded roster of play elements by Waterplay and Urban Play, and an engaging triangle gradient three-colour design, this outdoor hub invites play for all ages. Life Floor's surfacing blends safety with seaside style, encouraging laughter, games, and long summer days.

Baillie Henderson Hospital Campus – Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia

Located in Toowoomba, the Baillie Henderson Hospital Campus aquatic centre received a thoughtful upgrade with Life Floor surfacing installed across its pool decks and changing areas by Grassports Australia (QLD). Beyond its striking visual appeal, the project prioritises safety and accessibility, ensuring patients, families, and staff move confidently across these spaces year-round, particularly during the high-activity summer months.

Wanneroo Aquamotion – Western Australia, Australia

The "Treasure Island" themed splash pad at Wanneroo Aquamotion turns play into adventure. With tan pathways mimic a boardwalk under spray arches and blues symbolise surrounding water, this project highlights how surface design is part of thematic destinations. With additional cushioning around high-activity zones, this vibrant space invites confident play and imaginative exploration all summer long.

Miami Aquatic Centre – Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

Basking in the Gold Coast sunshine, Miami Aquatic Centre's splash pad transformation is a standout project in a beloved community facility. By replacing an older surface with Life Floor's durable, vibrant tiles in ocean-inspired hues and play features by Vortex, families now enjoy a bright and welcoming play space adjacent to classic pool experiences. As summer temperatures rise, this splash pad delivers refreshing fun with enhanced safety and cleanability for peak-season use.

EA Networks Centre – Ashburton, New Zealand

EA Networks Centre in New Zealand showcases how aquatic play areas can also elevate indoor environments. With cool and warm-tone gradients around splash and kiddie pools, this project offers year-round fun, reminding us that thoughtful surfacing design isn’t limited to any one type of space or season.

Why Surfacing Matters in Summer Play Spaces

At Life Floor, better design begins at the surface. Whether it's enhancing safety with NSF-certified traction, integrating custom colour and patterns that reflect local flair, or creating accessible transitions that welcome everyone, the right surfacing can transform how communities interact with water and play. These projects are just a snapshot of how imaginative design elevates everyday spaces into summer destinations worth returning to again and again.
